Major Kusanagi, the protagonist of the animation film, Ghost in the Shell (1995), is a cyborg who was initially born as a human, but now only retains few brain cells from her original form and inhabits a cybernetic structure.

By going from a human to a cyborg, did Major Kusanagi go from a "real" being to a robot, an inorganic, inauthentic entity? Or does the fact that she retains a small portion of her organic self, mainly her brain cells, keep her in the realm of real?
